Original Project Scope
In the heart of Central Asia this international school serves over 100 families from over 11 countries working with 34 different organizations. This school is providing cost effective and high quality education, at international standards, which cannot be found in any other part of Central Asia. However, the current school has reached its maximum enrolment capacity and the existing facility has been deemed inadequate in meeting proper earthquake zone standards. A government seismic agency has recently declared the current facility “high risk”.

The objective of the EMI team will be to master plan the new property, design a new school facility and services for 250-300 students with an adjacent play field, engineer the water/waste water system, locate a water well and investigate power supply and distribution. The master plan will include future phases which could include boarding facilities for 100 children, staff housing and a second school building.

Project Update
Following eMi's project trip, geotechnical data gathered about the property required a new approach to the building design.  eMi's site master planning, building programming and engineering planning (water, sanitation, power) efforts were adapted by a local architecture and engineering firm to produce the building seen in the photos of the now completed school. Through all the needed changes the ministry continues to credit eMi with advancing its efforts in a real and practical manner.
