Brazil - Joao Pessoa
JOCUM (YWAM) - Boy's Home
January 2006
In January 2006, a team made up of architects, and engineers from eMi went to Brazil to assist in the design of a new dormitory for an existing Boy's Home (orphanage) run Youth With a Mission (YWAM).
The Boy's Home is located in northeastern Brazil to near Joao Pessoa. This city of 1 million people faces the challenges of child abandonment and the resulting high number of street children. The YWAM base was constructed to house and educate some of these boys. The base housed between 30 and 40 boys from 8 to 15 years old, and was looking to expand its facilities.
The design involved accommodations for 20 boys from 8 to 10 years old including facilities for dorm parents.
